On February 10, 2026, I met with Professor Nattrass from University of Cape Town, who provided valuable insights on interpreting the results of this research from the perspective of South Africa’s historical background. She also introduced her previous anthropological and economic studies conducted in South Africa, which gave me an opportunity to view my own research findings from multiple perspectives.
On February 11, I met with Lecturer Deacon at University of the Free State (UFS), where I reported my research progress and was able to develop concrete plans for this year’s grant applications. We also discussed preparations for my research presentation at the symposium on giraffe behavioral ecology to be held in December. On February 12, I visited the Giraffe Research Center newly established by the UFS, and a master’s student working on site, Ms. Deacon, kindly gave me a tour of the facilities.
